A White Plastic Bag 2017
It’s a short documentary about a white plastic bag, what happened to it on a winter night in New York City 2017. The film is edited in montaging of two different times: one is the plastic bag taking the subway to Times Square, the other is when it already arrived in Times Square. The director meant to use White Plastic Bag as a signifier.
In some way, the plastic bag and people are very similar. We’re dragging by forces we can’t resist. At the ending movie American Beauty, a plastic bag is floating without any consciousness, it’s like the middle-class people stuck in their job and daily schedule, busy doing all the work to feed them. Life should be like this like tourists must go to Times Square if they come to New York City.
With the plastic bag, the audience has the chance to see all the different people living around it, they are not even more important than the white plastic bag in this movie, sometimes like in a society.
