The Moon Still Rises

The Moon Still Rises is a new series of photographic works that I started to create in 2020. I wish to provide alternative realities by emerging scenes of the moon and my ordinary life. I decided to work on the series around the end of 2020 when I went through Global Pandemic, Racial Discrimination, Unemployment… I had a strong impulse to escape but found nowhere to go again and again, from which process I slowly realized our perceptions of the world are also part of reality.

For some people “the sun still rises” illustrates hope, for others like me who feel more comfortable and safer at night, it is the moon that lays us down with peace. The moon I used to merge with other scenes was photographed during a boat trip in 2019 in Iceland, watching closely the giant moon function as the sun for the dark oceans. I brought the moonlight from that night to museums I often visited, to my parents’ quarantine life, to my self-portrait……The Moon Still Rises gently symbolizes my hope for the future and actualizes my life in another possible way.
